Days are action-packed with activities that will challenge campers in a fun, safe setting. Programs and activities at Camp Icaghowan focus on the four core values of the YMCA: Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility. The staff is dedicated to developing a sense of community through small-group living and building the foundation of a caring community.

Camp Icaghowan is also a place that can provide the relaxed environment conducive to learning, team building and fellowship during the fall, winter and spring months. With winterized buildings and comfortable indoor meeting spaces, Icaghowan has been host to school groups, church groups, family reunions and corporate meetings and retreats.

Summer Camp Overview

YMCA Camp Icaghowan is located in Amery, WI on a beautiful 40-acre island with an additional 80 acres of mainland property on Lake Wapogasset. Camp Icaghowan is the perfect place for boys and girls to try new skills, develop team work and leadership skills, and discover a sense of adventure in a resident camp setting for a 3 day session to a 3 week session.

Some of our camp activities include swimming, rock climbing, overnight camping, hiking, environmental education, arts & crafts, archery, target sports, large group games, small group activities, outdoor cooking, fire building, fort building, wilderness survival skills, canoeing, make your own ice cream, songs, drama/theater, skits, campfires, Boy's Unit Night, Girl's Unit Night, fishing, and more!

Campers are assigned to cabin groups of 8-10 campers of the same age range. They sleep in cabins with their 2-3 counselors.  Our staff to camper ratio is 1 staff to 6 campers. There will always be at least 2 trained staff per cabin group. Cabin groups are single gender and sleep on their designated side of the island in what we call "units." There are new bathroom facilities in both units with comfortable amenities including warm water, private stalls and private showers. Campers are supervised by our trained staff 24 hours a day.
